Kroger Bought Macy’s Site at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington

In Columbus, Commercial, development, net lease, nnn, Office

It was just announced yesterday that Kroger Co. bought the Macy’s site at Kingsdale for $10.5 mil on January 15, 2015.   Macy’s had recently announced plans to close the 45 year old store that was formerly a Lazarus.

The grocery retailer, Giant Eagle is getting some new competition. However, little in the way of details as discussions are only at conceptual level as they determine how Kroger’s will meet the requirements of the Kingsdale Planned Mixed Us District.  There will be significant challenges with big box conforming to the plan.  I don’t know yet if there will be a net leased retail center with smaller spaces available as part of the plan.

This is a big deal though so I’m sure we’ll have answer within a few months.
