Columbus and Central Ohio August 2012 Homes Sales Report

The news is good again. Homes prices in Columbus and Central Ohio are up from same month last year with a average price of $178,766, which is up 6.4% over the same month last year.

2,326 Central Ohio homes sold during August 2012, which is an 12.3% increase over August 2011. Year to date home sales are up 11.6% over last year. New listings fell 1% from July so it’s becoming a sellers’ market as inventory dropped 32.3% from last year to 11,571 from 17,096 in August 20122.

“Higher prices, low rates and lower inventory proved to be an exceptional environment for home sellers this summer,” said Jim Coridan, 2012 President of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. “But the strongest factor was and continues to be the abundance of motivated buyers in the market today.”
