Unemployment Rate in Columbus and Central Down in a Big Way

The Columbus and Central Ohio unemployment rate has fallen to 5.7 percent from 7.4 percent in September 2011. Obviously, that’s a huge improvement and it’s not because of folks who have given up looking for work. The seven county Central Ohio area has returned 48,000 of the 53,000 jobs lost during the downturn.

The regions’ workforce grew to 945,000 last month, which is an increase of 10,000 since August.

The lowest unemployment in the seven county area as always is Delaware county, with under 5 percent unemployment.
