Westerville Ohio – the Economic Future is Bright.

 In Commercial

Since I’m originally from Westerville Ohio, admittedly, many decades ago, I pay attention to local economic news.  I’ve seen Westerville grow from a little town of 2,500 or 3,000 people to a city of 38,000.  I’ve also seen the Westerville commercial real estate market go  from nothing to one where we have most of the big name, triple net leased retail players are here.

City Manager Dave Collinsworth spoke to the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce last week and said that there’s more good news ahead.

He said that in the last three years, in a very difficult economy, that the city brought in 2,352 new jobs and retained 679.  True, not huge numbers, but in a city this size, that’s doing pretty well.

With the southernmost part of the South State Street improvements done the city is extending that up to Schrock Road where the new Walmart is located.   And once done I would expect to see more national credit, triple net leased retail for sale to become available to Westerville commercial real estate investors.

On the north end, now that the City of Westerville has purchased the 67 acres of the Altair development on the southeast corner of Polaris Parkway and Cleveland Ave., Westerville expects to see development of more triple net leased retail,  offices and a hotel.

The old Historic uptown Westerville is seeing a transformation to something like a mini Short North with restaurants (that are not dry) and niche retailers instead of all antique shops as we had before.

The future is very bright for all of the city of Westerville Ohio
